Litigation and Settlements Paralegal

This is a full-time in office position; candidates must be reliable and able to commute to Lombard, Illinois.

Position Overview:

Atlas Law Center is pursuit a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal – Settlement Coordinator to facilitate the settlement process and ensure efficient case resolution. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating with attorneys, clients, and third parties to finalize settlements, process legal documents, and ensure timely disbursements. Your contributions will directly impact on our clients by helping them receive their settlement checks as quickly and accurately as possible.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. Also, a great attitude is a must!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal procedures, regulations, and regulatory requirements throughout the settlement process
  • Collaborate with attorneys to prepare, review, and finalize settlement agreements and related legal documents.
  • Manage and maintain accurate case files throughout the settlement process.
  • Verify settlement amounts, attorney fees, and other case-related financials to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate with all the parties involved in the process to facilitate settlements.
  • Communicate with clients, keeping them informed about case progress and collecting necessary documentation.

  • Track deadlines and follow up on outstanding items to move cases efficiently toward resolution.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate disbursements of settlement funds.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in labor and employment law, with strong emphasis on employment litigation.
  • Additional experience in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation is a strong plus.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois and other states are a plus.
  • Proven success managing multiple cases with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record in handling complex employment law cases, including wage and hour disputes, discrimination claims, retaliation claims, and wrongful termination matters.
  • Expertise in federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FLSA, ADEA, and other related statutes and regulations.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, drafting legal briefs, preparing motions, and managing cases through all phases of litigation.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate settlements and resolve disputes before reaching trial.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or in a related legal role.
  • Paralegal certificate or relevant legal education preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of settlement procedures, legal documentation, and case management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Experience in settlement negotiations is preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in legal writing, document preparation, and case management software.
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Technology: Proficiency with case management software (CRM), Microsoft Office, and legal research tools.

Average Salary Range:

From $55,000.00 to $65.000 per year
